'Isla On Valentines Day each room had a Valentine box and a party. ,Easter parties were held in the intermedlate and primary rooms. T Delores Salzsiedler, Betty Ann Rumsey, ,Bernice Brown and Marion Callen took part in the high school music reci- tal, April 6.4 Delores,l Betty' and Bernice .playing piano solos and Marion, a tuba solo., The declam dcontest was held in April. The winners were: Lyman Brown, primary divisiong Bernadine Re1s,third and fourth grade division: Donna Molstad, fifth and sixth, Marion.Ca1len, seventh and eighth grade, humorouszud Geongf ann Frankie,seventh and eighth grade dramatic divisions. Donna Molstad and Georgiann Frankie received superior rat- ings in both the district contest at Selby and the regional contest at Mobridge. - On Health Day, May 6,the grade rooms presented a playf UThe ,Land of Healthsn The leading parts were played by Marion Callen who acted as King, Victor Schlomer as Tam, Roland Potter as Page, .and Georgiann Frankie as mother. The helath program was presented as a radio program with Marion Callen as announcer. A Q dd ' , .- Play day was held, May 7, at Selby. The Glenham grade athletics ,won the following laurels: Kenneth .Anderson placed first in the high jumpg Georgiann. Frankie,second in the 75 yard dashg Bernice Hanson, second in broad jump: Donna Molstad, third in broad jump, Ella Rabenberg,third in 50 yard dash: and John Van Orman, third in high jump. Betty Ann Rumsey represented Walworth County at the YCL convention held in Pierre May 9 and 10. r o May 9, the grade school went to see USnow White and the Seven DwarfsH.at the Mascot Theater in Mobridge. s The grade school attended the annual all school picnic on Maysl9 andmon May-20, ,the pupils received their report cards thus completing school for another year.d N .f-'very ' c Us

I M A R Y A Q Left to right: Howard Nix, Charles Reis, Laila Rabenberg, Lyman Brown, Arleen Johnson, Esther Potter, Donald Wendland, Frank Vojta,Alice Potter, Marlene Goebel, Arle Wendland and Ramon Vojta. , When school started August 31, 1957, twelve-pupils enrolled in the primary room, 'thirteen in the intermediate room and eight in the grammar room making a total enroll- ment of thirty-three pupils. - On October 29 the grade school assembled in costume for their first party of the year, a Hallowe'en party. Because thee teachers attended the SDEA convention in Sioux Falls there was a weeks vacation for Thanksgiving. e A grade school basketballteam was organized this year. Mr. Decker was coach and all the boys camzout for practice. Callen, John Van Orman Victor Schlomer, Roland only outside team they a score of 15-14. They several times. Members of the team were: Marion Kenneth Anderson, Gerhard Schlomer, Potter and Howard Goebel. The played was Selby which they lost by also played the Glonham second team During the year three new pupils enrolledf Laila, Ella, and Dorothy Rabenbcrg. Laila entered the first graaeg Ella the fourthg and Dorothy, the seventh. .Shortly after Christmas Lloyd and Lucile Beckman moved to Brookings. December 18, the grades .presented UA Wooden Shoe Chr1stmas,u a Christmas opcrctta in three aetsq Marion Gallon, Donna Molstad, Delores Salzsiedler and Lloyd Beck- man had the leading parts.
