Glor I Being A Part O Gver 60 Year n an area and a district where the average age of schools is about ten years, Glendale can glory in its long history and tradition. Estab- lished in 1908, GHS is now 78 years old and Homecoming, which began a few years later, is a tradition of over 60 years. Homecoming '85 was one more festive occasion in the long tradition of GHS Home- comings. Although the Homecoming Game was played on Friday, November 8, the week leading up to the game, Spirit Week, saw school spirit in full force. Students dressed up as tourists, Hawaiians, Disney characters, and '50's boppers all to show their spirit. The week also brought late nights of planning and working on Homecoming Floats. On Friday, activities began with the Pep Assembly where Andre Wilson was awarded the title of Mr. Irresistible for collecting over 40 garters from GHS females. Immediately following the Pep Assembly, the Pa- rade through downtown Glendale began, and the floats which had taken so much work during the week were finally put on display. The major Homecoming Activities began Friday night when the Cardi- nals took the field against the Sunnyslope Vikings. Despite a defeat on the football field, the evening was a winner, During half-time, KU PD's Wild One, Dave Pratt, accompanied by Curtis Johnson and Freeway Mooner, announced the Homecoming Court. Crowned Queen and King were Debi LaGrow and Paul Enriquez while First Attendants were Debbie Crawford and Lennard Lopez, and Second Attendants were Gina Nelson and Scott Erickson. The winning float was the Junior Class entry. The half-time ceremonies ended with red and gold balloons floating into the air, and fireworks exploding near the field. The ,85 Homecoming continued the GHS Homecoming Tradition gloriously. Tradition C 12 HOMECOMING fill
