Literature classes learn authors lwho wrote what, and whenl, different periods and writing styles, and characteristics of the different liter- ary periods, Usually spelling, grammar, and A Tale of Two Cities are emphasized in the sophomore year of a high school student. First and foremost in literature classes is the art of thinking for yourself. This is advocated at every turn. By the end of their high school careers, the majority of students are well grounded in this art, along with the subiect matter presented. - CQIIQASU4 English students may think their teachers prefer the serious books, but here some English teachers en- joy the humorous. A new course recently added to GHS's curriculum, Introduction to the the Social Sciences, is taught by four teachers, Mr. Charles Hicks, philosophy, Mr, Murray Grant, psychology, Mr, Allan Busby, political science and economics, and Mr. James Smith, anthropology and sociology, teach their specialties to Glendale cgaazkzf fwkfzcex Here we meet our old friends-social studies, geography, and history - all put under one heading to make things easier for the ottices. These classes increase our understanding of other nations and at our own. They present a clear picture of the history, customs, and gov- ernments ot the world, which is conveniently divided into the segments we know as coun- tries. Each of these countries is studied and then they are all put together. Result?
