From left: Mr. Lawrence Weishart, Miss Mariorie Bailey, Miss Mary Ann O'Brien, Miss Doris Ferguson, and Mr. Frank Fisher. American literature, English, and world litera- ture, grammar, spelling and A Tale of Two Cities are some of the subiect matter included in three high school years of English. Literature classes learn authors lwho wrote what, and whenl, different periods and writing styles, and characteristics of the different liter- ary periods, Usually spelling, grammar, and A Tale of Two Cities are emphasized in the sophomore year of a high school student. First and foremost in literature classes is the art of thinking for yourself. This is advocated at every turn. By the end of their high school careers, the majority of students are well grounded in this art, along with the subiect matter presented. - CQIIQASU4 English students may think their teachers prefer the serious books, but here some English teachers en- joy the humorous.
