After 3 hours of being brainwashed, the student body finds relief eating and discussing the days events. These student council members will always be re- membered by their classmates as active in school affairs and leaders in many extra -curricular activities. Their Get Acquainted party at the first of the year, the school carnival, and the Christmas formal, all bear witness to the success of the efforts they made and the cooperation they received from the student body. ettefzmen Get those cotton pickin' whale boats off that gym floor is a well known phrase that is often heard during school hours. When one hears this order, one had better sprout wings, because a mem- ber ofthe mighty Lettermen's club is approaching. Besides policing the gym, the Lettermen engage in other duties such as patroling the halls, parking cars at games and sponsoring the Homecoming Dance. To win any game the players must know they are backed by a group who shares their desire to win. This is the basic aim of the Pep Club, which has made an excellent showing of school spirit at the games. Under the direction of Miss Elaine Anderson the chorus presented two successful performances, the Christmas and Spring concerts. ln addition to the music department this year a girls' sextet and a trio was added. Miss Elaine Anderson, music instructor, has spent two years in Glendalz traveling tirelessly from grade school to high school hoping to transmit z little musical ability to her students. Both the paper and annual have improved this year, thanks to the wonderful job done by the Journalism class. Mr. Wohler, the advisor, has done a noteworthy job of keeping the stu- dents in line and busy. Business managers for the Annual, Sandra Johns and Mary Lee Pate, are busy filing subscriptions and bills. Hot off the presses, we bring it to you, cry Maryllolland and RebeccaBuchanan, circula- tors for the paper. Leona Baker and Carolyne Dollar, Co-editors of the Annual, select the final prints for the Pirate Log. S 9: S S Lovely Sandra Johns reigns in splendor as homecoming queen at the Royal Ball. Terry Buchanan was her escort. Serving as attendants were Bev Brady, Jan Osepian, Sharon Bur- goyne and Renee Young. The Home- coming Dance climaxed the year's football season. Sandra Johns, newly elected Homecoming Queen smiles happily over her attendants. By the look on Queen Sandra's face one can tell that she knows it is going to be a wonderful evening. One of the main highlights of the year is the Christmas Formal. It is a night of fun and laughter. The formalwasheld in the gym which was beauti- fully decorated with a Christmas tree. Formal apparels worn by the many girls attend- ing the formal looked like floating clouds as the dancers swirled around the dance floor, These features, combined with the danceable music of Dick Anderson's band set the tone for a memorable Christmas Formal. The ChristmasForma1 was anight of dim lights, soft music, lovely formals, and pretty girls. 30 i I l ' ' ' p fao0a!defw ROW 1: Georgia Mill, Rebecca Buchanan--Sec., Beverly Brady--Pres., Ruth Harmonson, Vice Pres., Virginia Goodson--Song Leader.
