In these few short years Glendale has grown from a one-room schoolhouse to part of a new school district. Within the next decade Glendale High School will be a mem- ory, but the spirit and traditions of Glendale which have grown with the school will live on as they are incorporated into the new Princeton High School. The first classes at Glendale High School were held in the year of 1880. Since that day, there have been many changes, The school building has been moved, rebuilt, and then additions were made; the faculty and personnel have changed; the students have changed. These changes have taken place in other schools, but this year we have made a unique change. With the consolidation of eight school districts, Glendale and Sharon- ville High Schools have combined and are looking forward to becoming Princeton High ML Robert Lucas, who was previously affiliated with the State Department of Edue cation, is the superintendent of the consolidated school district and is working together with the new school board to provide a better school in the future. With degrees from Wilmington College and Ohio State University, and having candidacy for a doctorate degree at Ohio State University, Mr. Lucas was formerly Supervisor of the Elementary The Princeton High School will be the most advanced high school in this area. It not only will be larger but its facilities and programs will be greatly improved. New classes will be added so that a student may be prepared for any field he wishes to enter. There will be special classes for pupils with speech defects and other handicaps. The classes, laboratories, and gyms will have the latest equipment According to plans, Princeton JOHN E. After ordering caps and gowns, the seniors are eagerly awaiting June 7, graduation day. The last two weeks in May are being spent on preparing for what they hope to be one of the best class days at Glendale because they want Glendale High School to enter the new Princeton Local School District With the best in tradition behind them. In September of 1943 the Class of 1956 entered Glendale Public School. Of the original 51 students, only two remain, but 24 new members have joined the class This class of 26 pupils, during their first three years, have sponsored money making projects to prepare for the prom. This year, the Junior-Senior play, which was presented in the spring, and the selling of pennants and booster pins have been the main projects of the Senior class. ; slllllllllsvli. IIIIII - I . The victory ball, a big, event of the school, was held last year and since it was such a success it was held again this year at the end of the basketball sea- son. The student council held the traditional fall festival and operated a concession at a basketball game. With the active parficipation of student coun- cil in Glendale, it is becoming a better school. These two teams were started so that the freshman and sophomore will enter Princeton High School as experienced ath- h letes ready for action. Student's support and enthusiasm sparked all sports events this year. There were 60 tryouts for basketball which was one and one half times as many as last year.
