Selling autograph books helped our prom financially. The Class of 956 On September 8, we first met as the JUNIOR CLASS of 1954-55, and within a week, we ordered our class rings. At the end of many weeks of waiting, the rings arrived and were passed out to the excited members of the Junior Class. During the remainder of the year we spent most of our time making money for the Prom which we presented on May twenty-seventh. From the opinions of those who attended, the finished product was well worth the labor and worry throughout the year. Aside from class activities, and money-making projects for the Prom, we were active in other organizations in the school. From the Junior Class there were two officers in Student Council, two presidents and many active members in other school organizations. First row: Boggs. The Student Council has many annual and traditional activ- ities which encourage student participation in a more demo- cratic form of education. Among these are the Fall Festival and the beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the center hail. This organization backs all school activities and, this year, has installed a juke box in the cafeteria. With the help of our able representatives and their active participation in various conventions, Glendale has become one Of the better known Student Councils in the nation. Ours is a Service Club Following the induction of new members, Tri-Hi-Y has unitori work and play to fulfill its slogan of pure thoughts, pure words. and pure actions. The Tri-Hi-Y has presented the Thanksgiving and Christ- mas programs. Members have sold stationery, helped 0r- ganize the Muscular Dystrophy campaign in Glendale, and sponsored a peanut sale. They enjoyed programs in which they learned to make artificial flowers and to wrap gift packages more effectiveiy. This club was highly responsible for the organization of a Hi-Y Club in Glendale, and in April, combined with this Club to present the traditional Easter Program. Following many weeks of hard work the Society was again active by the initiation of many new members This organization is actiVB in all state, district, league7 and invitational tournaments both in debate and speech contests. The organization finances all trips made by the contestants to such tournaments by presenting plays and programs throughout the year. Entering the new year with but one seasoned debator, the Glendale debate team has established a worthy rec- ord. Taking only fifth place in the Greater Cincinnati Speech League Tournaments, our debaters returned from the Middletown Tournaments with the trophy for first place in ttBS, Class schools. Their record at the time of publication was 25 wins and only 13 losses. As only one member is graduating, the debate team is awaiting the next school year with great anticipation. N ational H onor Society Citizenship, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service form the basis on which members are chosen for the National Honor Society. Upon entering 19547 Gladys Hogg was the only student qualified for the honor. Later in the year, new N.H.S. members were inducted. Glendale was granted a charter in 1952, and the club has continued to be active. Becoming a mem- ber of the N.H.S. is the ambition of every new junior student. GLADYS HOCG MRS. In the fall, the organization sponsored a Sadie Hawkins Dance; in the mid. winter, many students enjoyed an ice skating party at Cincinnati Gardens. In early spring, a bowling party and a swimming party were held for the entire school. Judging from the experience our teams received this year. we hope to win many interscholastic games in the future. SANDY and AMES First row: Head, 13.; Neuss, B.; Bittner, 1.: Nora 3L; McFarland. 8..
