CLASS PROPHECY Well,I guess it's the gypsy in us--we don't know any other reason why they chose us to make the class prophe- cy. We could easily count and recount the tales of many footsteps long gone by, but instead, we now must pre- dict the uncertain footprints of the future. Turn onward, Turn onward, Oh, time in your flight, Let us see the graduates of '56 Ten years from tonight! My, that new filling station that E. V. Hodge is building is really swell! We wonder how he does so well. Could it be that he sells three quarts of gas for a gallon? Takea letter, please, Miss Esther Parrish. Ah, there she is--secretary to the president of the largest bank in Pleasant Gardens. Her footsteps have taken her far. Wandering back through the halls of GHS, we find some of our seniors have taken over the spotlight. Joan Bat- ten has replaced Mrs. Bunn and is sponsoring the Senior Class. The scene moves to Princeton, where we see Lida Jean Narron, very content and happy as a model housewife. Barden Godwin is also married. He is living near Stancil's Chapel with his wife and twin sons, Blue Flame and Rulaine. Edith Brown is in Hollywood. Edith is still known as The Beauty and seems to be making quite a hit in her new show, Silver Slippers. Say, what's this? Buy your tickets for the wrestling match tonight. Ercell Creech defends her world's cham- pionship title. Well, all I can say is, it should be exciting! Whom do we see there in that new Western Auto Store just above the Kenly Post Office? Oh, it's Clovis Boy- kin and heis manager of the store. He can hardly keep enough parts for the Hot Rods the boys are driving around. He complains because he is not able to sell them any speedometers. He says that they need them more than any- thing else. . Willie Ray Crocker and W.J. Johnson are two of the most successful farmers of 1966. What they learned in FFA must have been worth a lot. They are driving Cadillacs and spending their winters in Florida. Judith Boykin, you know, attended King's Business College in Raleigh. She liked it so well, that now we can see her in the crystal ball as a busy member of the faculty there--a popular one too! Evelyn Jones has become a successful model for the Conover Agency in New York City. There she is, grace- fully posing in a beautiful bathing suit on an artificial beach in the photographer's studio. She has made that bathing suit a standby for every lovely girl in America. If any of you fellows and girls go sailing on the sea of matrimonyj' how about dropping in to see Jeanette MorganinFlorida? I understand she has quite a fleet of yachts and is forever showing her old friends a marvelous time on a sea trip. Nettie Weaver has at last found an office on which to hang her shingle. She is now a full-fledged dentist. l always did wonder why she worked so hard to build up those muscles. Hold on to the chair, patients, please! Look! There's Janice Pope who is head secretary to Jimmy Atkinson, owner of a large chain of newspapers. Each one was always a genius with a pen and paper. No wonder they are doing so well. Our own Shirley Cooper has just opened her office as a lawyer. We, of government class, always agreed that she would be well suited for this profession, especially when there is a good argument involved. James Ruffin Hocutt decided to continue the profession he began in school. However, he has changed from a school bus driver to a Greyhound bus driver. There he goes driving the Glendale Seniors to New York on their senior trip. hlo Ann Radford finally decided on her career--a full-time, permanent job. Naturally, it's marriage. Guess to W Om? One ofour boys is in uniform. Oh, not the infantry! He's driving a Coca Cola truck and it's Billy Wall Boyette. Charles Atkinson ownsafuneralhomein Wilson. It seems that he just can't leave the dead alone. Louise Narron is still trying to figure out a way to have as many boy friends as possible--and Jimmy too! We see thatAnne Pittman finally waited until school was out to get married. She is living in Virginia with her husband and is very happy being a beloved housewife. There is Glenda Morris in the United States Air Force, fulfilling her life's ambition to be a WAF. Guess what? She is a Master Sergeant and doing her duty to all newcomers! Genell Hicks has just discovered a new hair tonic, which he uses himself. He says it keeps his hair well- groomed--and it keeps his girl, too. Vita Lamm, since graduation from Glendale High School, has been employed as secretary to Doctor Carter. She has gained some weight. It seems he used her as a guinea pig on which to test his famous new liver pills. In the all-telling crystal ball we can now see Martha Bunn. Remember, she got married during her senior year in school?She is not alone. Oh, that's her husband standing there beside her and they are surrounded by a num- llzjpru of little black pygmies. They are doing a wonderful job in their missionary work with these wee people of rica. There'sJames Earl Bailey unstopping a sink in a swank apartment on Park Avenue in New York. Is that apart- ment his? No! He's there because of his reputation as a first class plumber. Last,but not by any means least, we see Dorothy Garner. She is interviewing a famous football star. You see, she has won quite a name for herself as sports editor on the Chicago Times and is still carrying on her interest in all sports--men too! ' As the visions in the crystal ball grow dim, we find that we have come to the end of our search for our fellow classmates. They have left many footprints along the trail of life. They have filled these footprints well. In the many years yet to come, we can see that they will all make deeper and even better impressions on the road to their many goals in life.
