English onolyzes, exploins symbolism King Arthur, Julius Caesar, Cyrano De Bergerac, and Helen Keller all unrolled their lives for the scrutiny of the English Il classes. Along with the biographies of famous people, the English ll stu- dents studied the techniques of correct composi- tion and the usage of the English language. Act- ing out the parts of some of the plays enabled the students to identify with the characters. English l gave freshmen their first chance to analyze a novel. Through class discussion and in- dividual work they went beneath the story of a novel to find the symbolic meanings. They also studied the classic tragedy of Romeo and Juliet along with Greek, Roman, and Norwegian myth- ology.
