By writing reports, reading novels, and speaking in the French language, students studied the culture and observed the holidays and traditions of France and the French people. Exploring the Spanish speaking countries, students became involved in games, songs, films, records, plays and skits performed in Spanish. A group of advanced Spanish students added music to the Span- ish room for Open House, attired in peasant dresses and native costumes. A study of grammar and Roman influence was emphasized in Latin classes. Advanced Latin students read works such as the Iliad and the Aezzeid in medieval Latin.
