To aid in maintaining the high standards and First Class Ratings by the National Scholastic Press Association of the 1966-67 Iffzlmn and Qnlll. all members of the staff attended summer clinics in Detroit, Michigang Lubbock, Texas, and Athens, Ohio. Steve Johnson, photography editor, won an out- standing photographer award at the publications workshop which he attended. Added to the staff of the Quill was the position of photography editor and added to the Falcon staff were the positions of copy, layout, class, and index editor. While learning the basic skills in writing and newspaper production, Journalism 1 students sub- mitted articles to the newspaper in addition to writ- ing and editing two editions of the Quill. Further classroom study included improved techniques in year- book production, ad lay-outs, and typography. I-1 students prepared newsbeats, ads, and listened to speakers in preparation for further study.
