Dramatics, Speech Teach expression Through presentation of readers' theaters, impro- visations, pantomimes, duet acting, debates, and ex- temporaneous speaking, students enrolled in speech classes learned to express themselves clearly and flu- ently. Beginning speech students studied the fundamentals of oratory and interpretation in preparation for the spring Neophyte Tournament. Traveling to North Kansas City, Neosho, the Uni- versity of Missouri, and the University of Arkansas speakers from the Speech Department entered com- petition in debate and individual competition, bring- ing home high ratings and several trophies. Production of the junior-Senior Talent Assembly, A Day at Court was the last project of Mrs. jerrie Hemingway before she left on maternity leave in November. Replacing her, Mrs. Ann Brundridge guid- ed the dramatics students in creating the sets and lighting for the annual Christmas, Easter, Exchange, and Freshman-Sophomore Talent assemblies. In the classroom students participated in panto- mime, improvisations, readers' theaters, and play pro- duction. 7 Arm B1-undridge jerrie Hemingway Norman Marshall D,-dmgfiff Dramaliff Fzmdamenlalr of Englifb 2 Effgfifb 2 Speefb Public Speaking World Hiirory in H R ' , t . , it ,ti M 10' E C gf .
