'Www K.. Administration Directs education Devoting his time and energy, Dr. Willard Graff, Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools, is to- tally committed to education. His major concern is to contribute what he can to provide the quality of education needed by Springfield youth. Because of his outstanding work and leadership, Dr. Graff has received such honors as The American Educators Medal awarded by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge and an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree con- ferred by Drury College. He was elected to the office of president of the Missouri State Teacher's Associa- tion. In May, Dr. Graff was awarded the Citation for Distinguished Service to Education by the University of Missouri at the Education Day Banquet. Working with Dr. Graff on matters concerning the basic needs of education were the members of the Administrative Board. Their responsibilities included maintaining order in the school system by supervising building improvements, teacher selection, co-ordinat- ing personnel services, and supervising business trans- actions. is - ...A-.Yi -- - . .325-ErfQ're of e , J M. -f. it 'N Q ? it ...L Administration Visits with pupils Engaged in the activities of the Deputy Superin- tendent, Dr. Joe Kuklenski combined the necessary leadership and abilities with a friendly smile and oc- casional visits to the Glendale student body. His position, added to the administration staff for the first time this year, included the responsibilities of co-ordinating and directing the educational programs of the school district. He also assisted the selection of staff members and supervised the development of long range planning of the educational program. Holding the position of Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, Dr. A. M. Alexander worked in a close relationship with members of the School Board, Dr. Graff, and Dr. Kuklenski. His schedule included, among administrative duties, visits to the various high schools to work with the principals on important issues involving student activities and regu- lations. Visiting at Glendale throughout the year offers Dr. joe Kuklen ski, Deputy Superintendent, a chance to enter the routine life of high school students. Q 1 e I 1l Il , x .-...... Glendale senior Martha Mitchell fsecond from leftj partici- pates in Teen Talk, a monthly panel show which recently won the Golden Mike award presented by the American Legion Auxiliary to broadcasts that promote juvenile decency.
