Mr. utehi on njo s G.H.S. r. Hutchison was our principal here at Glendale High School during '85-86, but he didn't start his education career in Arizona. Mr. Hutchison was born in Herrin, Illinois, and he attended college at Southern Illinois University. He taught at Herrin High School where he also coached football, basketball, and track. In l960, Mr. Hutchison and his family decided to move to Arizona when he was offered a job here at Glendale as a government and economics teacher. Here, too, he coached football, basketball, and baseball. Eleven years later he became the GHS Dean of Studentsg then he became the Assistant Principal of Activities for 6 years and next Principal. He has served in that position for 8 years. ln the spring of l986, Mr. Hutchison made the difficult decision to retire. Upon retirement he hopes to spend more time with his family which includes his wife of 32 years, three sons, and his first grand- child. Mr. Hutchison says the best part of his career was working with young people. He liked teaching much more than hc liked being principal because he had more time with students. He wishes he had the chance to help the students who need it more often and even after he retires he hopes to continue working with young people in some way. Many people have asked Mr. Hutchison why he stayed at Glendale instead of taking a job at a newer school. He says that even though Glendale is 78 years old, he still thinks it's the best school in the district, and he likes the GLENDALE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPA is-Mr. Robert Hutchison After many years as a GHS Cardinal, Mr. Hutchison has put together a large collection of cardinals which he proudly displays in his office. size, the number of students, and the history of the school. Mr. Hutchison admits that when he looks back on his life, he doesn't regret a thing. lf he could do it all again, he would do everything the same. He has had a very happy and successful life and a rewarding career. Mr. Hutchison has given a great deal of himself to Glendale High School and its students. We wish him the best of everything as he leaves GHS fora life of leisure! ,. iagygvy. if i. QL - . U. I, q n fix Qg .. Paperwork requires a good deal of Mr. Hutehison's time. FACULTY I9
