With fond memories of the past, We have reached our goal at last, All the teachers who paved the way, And gave our lessons day by day, Taught us that he who does his best, When on his own, will stand the tests We think of each person as a friend And as our school year comes to an end, We leave with pride to answer our call, Holding fast the hand that is stronger than all, -Wendell Traylor.

win Now the curtain is slowly drifting to a close over our High School career, At first, the curtain seemed to move very slowly, but we, the class of '48 realize that it is gradually gaining speed every day. As my mind drifts back to the past, it is with great pleasure l remember the happy years we have spent together. Our journey first began in the year l942, wher. a broadminded group first entered lr. High School, under the leadership of Albert Hollingsworth, who always taught us to be careful in Science, and working in his laboratory, The first year was hard lwe never studiedl but we finally made it to Gertrude Parker, who always was very kind to us, lat timesl. She was the first to teach us grammar, and was it easy. ln the year l944, on a very hot September day, the same group came and met together to began another school year. This year it was Dorothy Ellis, who was very intelligent, and knew her history books from cover to cover, She sometimes grew very angry with us, but we loved her for that, One day we decided to stroll again, but had not gone far, when we stopped at Violet l try and error l Summers, who always had to have silence in checking her roll every day I can't blame her for that, because, after all, she did teach us to have strong minds, and work math. ln the year l946, we came together again, and had as our director, Carolyn Penny, who had as her theme words, Co Stand Out In The Hall. We were all grown-ups now, and this was the year we had to sponsor the junior-Senior Party, where every one had a good time, But something we hated to see was the last day of school because Carolyn could not journey further with our quite isome- timesl noisy group. The year '47-'48 came at last. Our class had trimmed down a little, but we still had 33 broad- minded students to receive their award for stepping through the years of hard slavery. lt is our pleasure to have again Violet Summers for our leader, as we all know, we must have Parliamentary Law, and we can always work together. As our Annual goes to press, we are still making history, But now we must part, and go forth to teach others as others have prepared us for our duties , ERMA CLASS DONALD PARKER Class Historians
