Elma Pwpheaf After we had earned a two weeks' vacation from our secret service jobs in Washington, D C, we decided to spend it in Gadsden with our families. There we could see many of our old school chums with whom we graduated ten years ago. lt had been'a long time since we had seen or heard from any of themg therefore, we felt certain our vacation would bring forth many pleasant surprises. After having packed all the belongings we would need, we rushed to the station, and arrived there just in time to catch the Streamliner. When we arrived in Gadsden, we were greeted fondly by our parents, and after having been em' braced happily, we went home, unpacked and relaxed That night we planned to look up all our old school chums and have nice long chats with them the following day. Early the next morning, we went in search of our former school mates, We marveled at the growth of the city, and were astonished to see so many strange faces The first building we came to in the outskirts of Glencoe, now a big city, was a large brick hotel, Curiously, we entered its spacious lobby, and whom did we see behind the managers desk? None other than good natured Tommy Mooney, incidentally, he grows cactus plants as a hobby l-lis two capable assistants were Frances jackson and lo l-lolloway, They are planning a trip around the world in the near future. After having left the hotel we decided to inspect Uwe fine looking Medical Building across the street. There we noticed the names of Doc Lumpkin and Charles Marker on the drectory inside During our short visit with them, we learned that Doc Lumpkin is now a prominent dentist, and that Charles has been very busy at the new hospital which will be finished soon, l-le is on the sta-ff, and Wilma Coker is to be head nurse. A smart dress shop was next, and Billie Lo s Brasher and Betty lean McGill are the owners We had a nice chat with them, and Betty lean told us that Cather ne Alford is living in Hollywood where she owns an exclusive beauty shop, and th at Evelyn St, lohn is manager of an Abstract Com- pany in Birmingham, We learned that Sarah Willingham is private secretary to the new Governor of Alabama, who is none other than Charles Phillips, The owner of the only car lot in Glencoe, which takes up a whole city block, is Buster Miles l-le is a prosperous business man. R. L. Whitmore is now an official at the steel plant, We always knew that he had unusual ability A conspicuous neon sign, which spelled out tha name of George Williams, beckoned to us as we hurried over to his motorcycle shop to say hello l-le told us that Ramona Marker is one of Chicago's leading stylists, Carthel Norwood owns the large garage next door We stopped in the drug store for a coke and there we find Betty lo Pruitt behind the cosmetic counter, still smiling, she has changed very little since the old days.

Gaynor Ables has gone in for photography ani' has a chain of studious all over Alabama, Bobby Gray is a commercial artist and his work is very much in demandg incidentally, he is still interested in Boy Scout activities, While riding around the town, we discovered that Albert Hollingsworth is living the life of a gentleman farmer. l-le is also the owner of the largest saw mill in north Alabama. Both Frosty Nabors and Red Smith are outstanding in our world of sports. Frosty is coach at the University of Alabama, and Red is head coach at the University of Southern California, The two teams are scheduled to play at the Rose Bowl next lanuary. Dot East has gone in for journalism, and her varied columns appear in some of the best news- papers. We met Billie Sims and Guelda Brown in the new libraryg they are both teaching in high school lt was from them that we learned that Billy Gene Foreman and Wendell l-licks, the pride of our sixth period English class, have become outstanding lawyers, l-lerston Alford is mayor of Tillispn Bend, and he has been selected to run for l-louse of Representatives next election. We went into the Glencoe National Bank and saw jerry McCIuney seated in the presidents chair looking very important. Later we drove out to look at our Alma Mater where we had spent so many happy days, there we found Ralph Cornelius, the coach of Glencoes hard fighting team. lack Browns picture was in the Glencoe Times, the newspaper published by jimmy l-lamby.
