Indi idual make man into 'one' Vast array of people pull together While playing duo roles at South 1982 marked the twentieth anniversary of Glenbrook South although most people did not even realize it. There were no big celebrations, and seldom was the school's 20-year existence even acknowledged. Actually, the year did not hold many surprises or exceptional differences that made it alone stand out from any other year at GBS. For many, life at high school was already a familiar routine. That didn't matter though, because those at South had settled down into a school system that took 20 vears to build. They have established their way of life at school, and, in doing so, had made themselves a place to exist among everyone else. Each person was one out of many people who made up one huge multitude at South, or, one in one. People acted both parts they had to play: as an individual, and then, as part of the group. Being an individual was a bit tough, since everyone was constantly subject to rules and regulations, both formal and informal. Of course, onels true character arose sometimes, but for the most part, everyone was just one in a crowd of numerous faces and names. s Mr. James Torsiello, associate dean of students, grabs a few pancakes at the brunch sponsored by the Parents' Association before making the long trek out to the football field. Freshman Ann Johnson and Molly Moran, along with a friend from a neighboring school, braved the weath- er to watch the sophomore football team beat the Highland Park Giants 22-12. As a part of its halftime show, the drum section. including sophomore Brent Berdick on bass drum, plays Popeye. one K si At the tirst pep assembly of the year Dan Schnell, captain of the boys' cross country team, gives listeners a run down on the team's upcoming meets.
