'71 in Mr. MacPherson Goes To China Last summer Mr. MacPherson recieved a Fulbright scholarship, which enabled him to spend six weeks in the People's Republic of China. During his stay he stud- ied the history and culture of the Chinese people. He spent four weeks at the University of Beijing and two weeks traveling to various cities, including: Xiana and Hangjou in Central China, Wusxi and Shang Hin in Southern China. The concentration of study centered around investigating schools, hospitals, reformatories, temples, churches, and parks. When asked what he con- sidered the highlight of his trip, Mr. MacPherson re- plied, Meeting with the people and learning what ever- yday life in a country with a population of one billion plus is like.
