Although lt sf as our years ago we as trembltng freshmen entered trte mrghty portals of Glenbard tt seems but a few rr nths ago and those few months lled mth delrghtful expertences Perhaps rt was a brt hard at t rst to arasp the rdeas of Laun ana alge bra but soon we began to feel more confrdence tn ourselves Soon our sophomore year loomed up be fore us and no longer were we sent by upperclass men to the 400 floor when we were lookrng for the rnustc room At last the longed for days arr1ved when we too were looked upon as upperclassmen True our labors rncreased and our atm for more knowledge was growrng deeper and consequently harder to acautre nevertheless we took trme out to add humor and glory to our Alma Mater m the form of extra currtcular act1v1t1es as well as rn learntng And now mrghty sentors we stalk down the halls of Glenbard our halls and feel ltke ktngs and gueens rn our magntftcent castle Now we are ready to enter htgher places of learntng startmg once more at the bottom of the ladder or to make a name for ourselves 1n the bustness world ln our mmds we wrll never forget the thrrlhng years at Glenbard At ttmes all of us probably felt as rf we were bemg terrrbly rnlsunderstood or m1s1udged and we were ready to g1ve up but we stuck to our ,sw 1obs and now we re glad that we dld Now too we must admlt that we ve be come rather attached to our castle on the hrll and perhaps aren t so eager to leave as sometrmes our actlons behed But we do have the consolatron of knowmg that we dxd help to burld Glenbard to tts recogntzed hetghts ln looktng back over our course we see that even as freshmen we began to take a keen lnterest rn the ac l1V1lleS at Glenbard Not f' e u 'tg p e fden 1. only drd we add our names to the varrous scholastrc honor rolls but we started rn full swrng to take part rn all kmds of GCl1V1l1eS Dunng our hrst year we helped w1th the operetta as we dld 1n the follow1ng years untrl th1s ,fear we were able to feel that we were the rnalnstay of The Waltz Dream. We began to Jom organ1zat1ons and to lend our support to them Among these were the H1 Y the GAA the GR the Latln French ar1d Spanlsh Clubs the G Club Krts and Sluts Thesplans and others The productlon of The Adorable Spendthnft ln our JUHIOY year and th1s y ar s dramatlzatron of Pnde and Prejudlce show that our class 1S not lacklng ln dramatlc ab1l1ty Along th1s same llne we presented Play Nlte we gave several short plays 1n whrch the dramatlcs class drsplayed 1ts hldden talents Many of our sen1ors were members of the football and basketball teams of 1940 1941 as well as the golf tennrs and track teams honors for the group work and solo 1n the annual muslc contests We are proud to say that many sen1ors helped brlng home the pnzes The staffs of the Glen Bard and of the Pmnacle were composed almost wholly of sen1ors wrth Journallstlc Gb1l1l1eS An Open House after school or a for mal or lnformal dance rn the evenlng were eagerly looked upon as no small part of our soc1al engagements Another pleasant experrence both en terta1n1ng and educatronal was the weekly convos The brams of our class turned out to be Kendall B1rr of Lombard Claus von Fredersdorff of Roselle and Robert Har IIS of Glen Ellyn They were rewarded Pl on Commencement Nlght when they were allowed the pI'lV1lege of address mg the sen1ors Brrr led the tno rn per Cenlqges Wlth 28 AS and no B5 VOD Honor Students Robert Harrzs Claus von Freders Fredersdorff followed wrth 31 As and dofff KeHdf111B1ff l B whrle l-larns scored 27 A s and l B. Contrnumg wrth the subyect of honor students Mary Meacham was awarded the Freshman Honor Medal lack Replrnger was the all around sophomore and Drck Maurer was accorded the Iunxor Honor Medal In lookmg back at our Glenbard years 1t would be rmposslble to sk1p over the name of our fnend and adv1ser Mr B1ester and all the other teachers we have come to know We are truly proud of Glenbard and we hope that Glenbard may be proud of us rn the future for the l1ttle we were able to add to 1lS greatness and glory , I . . . .
