Administration and upkeep are included in several departments, the of- fgce staff, the heads of various departments, the school board, and a staff of janitors. The school board is composed of a presi- dent and six members elected by the public. The board formulates the general policies of the school and hires a principal to see that they are carried out. They decide important questions and of course control the ex- cheauer. The president of the board for the past year was Mr. Gilford H. Hill. The other members of the board were Mrs. Helene Mor- gan, Mrs. Marjorie lorgeson, Mr. Ray C. Carl- son, Mr. A. O. Osterling, and Mr. Alvin M. Glahn. vivffblqzl The actual administration of the school is carried on by a principal, an assistant princi- pal, and an office staff. Principal Fred L. Bies- ter is in charge ofthe school and is responsible for it to the school board. He is assisted by Miss Ruth McLean, the assistant principal. The office force takes care of the innumerable de- tails necessary in the daily routine and busi- ness of a high school such as correspondence, attendance, etc. This year's office staff was composed of Mrs. Frances Kay, the only vet- eran, Miss Ruth Scull, and Miss Elsie Krall. Miscellaneous other secretaries held positions during the year, but they seemed to resign as fast as Mr. Biester could sign them up. Keeping Glenbard clean is the responsibil- ity of the janitors under the able direction of that delectable old ogre, Hans'l Hansen. The janitors include lohn Feid, Dick Cfilstrap, Frank Metzner, Albie Albue, lMac Mac- Williams, and the chief himself, Hans Han- sen. Office Staff-Miss 'Elsie Krall, Miss Ruth Scull Mrs Frances Kay. LaGrange 6-Glenbard 0-An intercepted pass and a trick reverse gave LaGrange a 6-U victory. Camps pass interception stopped a Blue and Gold drive, an offside penalty nullified another LaGrange touch- down. The fine work of Curtis and Iohnson, Glenbard ends, halted other Lion drives. Downers Grove 32-Glenbard Owpower is the answer to the drubbing administered the Green and White by the Downers Grove Trojans. Downers could only score once in the first half and an even battle was expected the second. The Trojan ma- chine finally got going, however, as they pushed across four markers in the second half to thoroughly route the Bards. Al Iohnson, lohn Keig, and Bruning stood out for the losers. Dropped passes helped to weaken an impotent Glenbard offensive. A variety of power plays mixed with effective passes completely fooled the Green and White defense. The Trojans' attack was executed to perfection as it should have been by the future West Suburban Conference champs, Maine 6-Glenbard 0 -Maine proved to be just a bit too fast for our boys while their alert defense gave Glenbard constant trouble. After a deadlocked first half, Maine put on a drive culminating in a 28-yard dash by their halfback Springer for the deciding score of the game. The same quarter Glenbard put on their only drive when continual short gains by Bruning and Meredith paved the way to the lU-yard line where Maine's stiff defense halted it. Doyle made the longest run of the game in the first quarter, but l-linsdales defense tightened here, and the Green and White lost the ball on downs. Glenbard threatened again in the third quarter when runs by Kreidler, Doyle and Welbourn put them on the Red Devils' lU-yard line, Three plays and a pass failed to gain, however, and the game ended in a draw. Ed Doyle starred among the Green and White backs and guard 'lChuck Gilbert featured the line play. LaGrange 0-Glenbard B-Chalking up their first touchdown and first victory all at once, the lights defeated the hard-charging LaGrange Lions 6-U. A conservative punting game slowed up the first half until Mareneck, Glen center, intercepted a LaGrange pass on the Blue and Gold 25-yard line. The half ended scoreless as the Bards failed to capitalize on the break. In the second stanza the Green and White came back with a bang, Kreidler scoring two plays after a recovered fumble on the LaGrange 37-yard stripe. Mareneck, Doyle, and Kreidler were the key men in the lights first con- ference victory. Downer's Grove 0-Glenbard 7fAn alert and improved Glenbard eleven scored in the last quarter to hand Downers Grove a 7-U licking. Bick's long kicks kept Downers on the defensive during the first half, but off-side penalties slowed down the Bard running attack. Gronie's half-time talk must have inspired the Green and White, for after a brief punt exchange in the third quarter, they took the ball and marched 4l yards to score, Kreidler going over from the 2-yard stripe. Doyle added the extra point. Downers tried desperately to score but never got within the Glenbard 25-yard line. Ringnald, Gilbert, and Welbourn sparked the Bard victory. Maine 7-Glenbard Bmln a game of breaks, the lights dropped a close decision to Maine to deal a severe jolt to their championship hopes. Near the opening of the game Maine recovered a fumble on the Glenbard 27-yard stripe and scored in four plays, a flat pass turning the trick. Upon receiving the Blue Demons second-half kickoff, the Green and White put on a sustained drive with Doyle and Welbourn carrying the mail that resulted in a touchdown after 52 yards had been covered. Kreidler blasted the pigskin over from the one-yard mark. Doyle's attempt to pierce the Maine line for the tying point failed by inches. York 7-Glenbard Beln the traditional Ngrudge game of the season, York's championship Barons downed the Glen boys after being outplayed in the first half. ln the first quarter Glenbard threw a scare into the Barons when they recovered a York fumble. With Doyle toting the leather, the lights drove to the Baron 8-yard line until an offside penalty and an intercepted pass halted the advance. Yorks passing game almost proved fatal as Glen intercepted three of their passes in the first half. The York score came in the third auarter on an off-tackle run by Cabins, flashy halfback, after one of Ricks punts had been partially blocked on the Glenbard 18-yard stripe. Roberts attempt for the conversion was good. Highland Park 6-Glenbard 2-The lights joined forces with the Glenbard frosh-sophs to be dealt an undeserving 6-2 defeat. The Parkers scored their lone touchdown in the waning seconds of the second quarter on a 40-yard pass against the frosh-sophs. The regular lights entered the fray at the start of the second half and pushed deep into Highland territory before they fumbled and lost the ball on their opponents l3-yard line. When Highland Park attempted to punt out of danger, the kicker was smothered behind his goal by the entire Green and White line for an automatic safety. Mothes and Walhay were stars in defeat. Riverside-Brookfield 0-Glenbard 6-Ending the season in a blaze of glory, the lights played their best game of the year and defeated a highly-touted Riverside team 5-U. Kreidler made the lone touchdown of the game in the second quarter when, after an exchange of kicks, he cut over his own left guard and raced 36 yards to score. Riverside came back with two offensive drives in the second half, but both were broken up by an alert Glenbard line. Seniors Loague, Gilbert, Ringnald, Doyle, Welbourn, and Mareneck starred in their final game. eo Botovw Home Aortorm Limsdole Hebron loo Nrvers Rlverslde be Gexr Glermbord Glenoord Glemoord Glermord Glenbord Glenbord HEAVY Elf HT H HETI3 LL N L, 'leot rx H 'isdole Dc wrers Rrversuie LaGrange West Auroro York 2U Glenoord Top ow Coach Boore G Ich son R1'1g1'1G1d Wcmner Mgr Corr1:,o'1 M1ddle row Greplmg Lech1e r mt Pe e son Kelg Bottom row A Iohnson Howkms Brum g Comp Morley C TCH G erooro G e ooro Glenooro Glenbolrd Glenbord Glenbord 2 2 2 2 2 ' W 2 2 Y L S?2!3rfCfff SACPIS 'UBL tor. 39 Ji Qbird E9 Lc'3r'1iije QE f9.f1rrr,f:rj 1 155 lr',o'rd 22 York G1 Cl York, 29 Glenbord 21 Tfffzine 22 Glomboro r ' 19 232 VVQ o 27 l Q ' T 29 ' ' 22 25 l rr , ' . Starting the confer- ence season against Yorks champions the lights displayed plenty of scrap but not enouglg to prevent a 39-27 defeat. The following game with Maine ended Main 27- Glenbard l8. Morton then trounced the locals by a 35-18 score. Fan-shaped backboards and a zone defense helped the lights drop one to Hinsdale 20-7. The next two games were the lights' best efforts of the year. After leading Downers during most of the game, the Hornets fell 23-2l. Glenbard duplicated this feat again in its match with Riverside before they succumbed 29-25. The Bardites ended the first round of conference play with a loss of 22-lO to La Grange. The Hornets took an early lead over York before they again went down 33-l9. The Green and White's supreme opportunity of the season came in the second game with Maine's Blue Demons when they had two free throws to attempt with the score l9-18 in favor of Maine. Unfortunately they were not made and the score remained Wheaton again downed the Hornets in a 24-l6 game. A fast- breaking Hinsdale five then defeated the lights 29-25. The two remaining games resulted in losses. Hank Sordel and the Riverside quintet had too much speed and deception for the Bardites, and a 39-23 licking resulted. The Hornets final bid for victory against La Grange's Lions' equally weak outfit showed the boys putting up a hard fight all the way, but they simply couldnt do it.
