The courses are basically traditional in nature, emphasizing the development of reading, writing, and thinking skills. as well as an appreciation of quality literature. This year the English teachers are concentrating especially on the improvement of reading skills. The teachers will participate in workshops to investigate ways of improving such skills. The department also plans to add honors courses at both the junior and senior levels by '79-'80.
