Under the guidance of coaches Gomiella Baker and Jerry Cochran, the team learned techniques and various holds to improve possibilities of winning. The wrestlers found the Sierra league competition to be stiff. Unable to grasp many wins, the cats recorded a 2-5 record. Team captains were Mike Dzubnar, Greg Solomon and Jesus Ramirez. The team was mostly made up of Juniors who lettered varsity. The wildcats hope to be more impressive in future years. Awards given out at the banquet went to most valuable - Greg Solomon, most inspirational - Mark Blackly, most improved - Ben Woo and coaches award -- Frank Ward. Four players went on to league finals, Carl Williams took second, Mike Dzubnar - second and Gary Armstrong and Frank Ward held second and third place marks respectfully. Coach Cochran was very impressed with his '77 J.V. wrestling team, with a 4-3 record. The most valuable player was Pete Ramirez and most improved was Jeff Ricchio. Also adding to their winning campaign was Gus Vasques 4-1 and Butch Spalione. The teams victories were much deserved, and helped a lot to boost the morale of the group.
