Championship Awa y V2 Game The Freshman football team completed the 1976 season with a successful 6-2-'l record. The pre-season saw the frosh post a mediocre l-I mark with a win over La Serna and a disappointing loss to Royal Oak. The team seemed to iell, however, with the start of the league season. A solid defense led by Co-Captain Mark Nill held opponents to a total of 20 points in seven games, while the offense was cranking out an average of 'l5 points per game. The highlights of the season came in the final game against undefeated cross-town rival Los Altos. A pass from Co-Captain Scott Brown to Mike Miranda set up the games only touchdown, scored by all around star Leo Sibayan, and a 8-0 victory. The final league record was 5-l-'I and only a half game away from a consecutive league championship. Freshman Football 71

, ii-2-2 7- 7- -7 ---- 2 1 -- l l .,-- ' A Wrestlers Fall To Sierra Competition Hard physical training and calisthenics was the schedule helped to increase endurance in the wrestling team. Under the guidance of coaches Gomiella Baker and Jerry Cochran, the team learned techniques and various holds to improve possibilities of winning. The wrestlers found the Sierra league competition to be stiff. Unable to grasp many wins, the cats recorded a 2-5 record. Team captains were Mike Dzubnar, Greg Solomon and Jesus Ramirez. The team was mostly made up of Juniors who lettered varsity. The wildcats hope to be more impressive in future years. Awards given out at the banquet went to most valuable - Greg Solomon, most inspirational - Mark Blackly, most improved - Ben Woo and coaches award -- Frank Ward. Four players went on to league finals, Carl Williams took second, Mike Dzubnar - second and Gary Armstrong and Frank Ward held second and third place marks respectfully.
