THE JUNIOR Varsity football had an impressive record this season. They started their season with a 14-24 loss to 'South Hills however, they came back to trample the La Puente Warriors 32-3. Their loss to West Covina 8-l 8, was soon followed by another to Glendora, 18-32. The season picked up with a 34-0 shutout against Edgewood and with Covina forfeiting. With our forfeiting to Los Altos, the season ended in a 3-4-O league record. The team then voted runningback Greg Vasquez Most Valuable player because of his tremendous yardage record. Coach Lee Fair did a fine iob with this team when it is considered they would not even know who the team members would be until the day before the game. Also, they would have only one hour's practice separate from Varsity and ten minutes in which to learn the plays used by the JV team. CX Q Q .5 l Football 69

Ca ts Womp Warriors With high expectations of a winning season, defeat lowered Wildcats spirits. The Varsity football team had something against them from the very start. They played with all the skill and determination they had, but they were out-sized by most of the opposing teams in the league. Fired up against the number l C.l.F. contenders, the Wildcats hosted the Huskies but fell to a dramatic 14- 20 defeat. The fire soon smoldered as the Cats continued their losing streak against West Covina and Los Altos. Spirits lifted as the Wildcats womped the Warriors on L.P.'s home turf 25-13. The 'I977-78 team promises to improve upon their 6-l record. Returning lettermen Peter Beattie, Butch Spalione and Don Bowley expect to provide the necessary boost for the Wildcats bid at the Sierra League title. 'R Y 68 Varsity Football
