Set It , pike This year the varsity squad improved their league standings by at least 2 places. Last year the varsity came in 7th place iust above St. Lucys with a 2-6 record. This year was quite different. Wilson carried a 4-4 record finishing the league above La Puente, Glendora, West Covina, and South Hills. Only l game out ofa tie for 3rd and 4th place. Because of the absences of many of the players due to other activities, the team wasn't as strong as it could have been. Despite their difficulties the team, along with captains Scott Keaveny and Mike Meyers, made a good showing. Mark Guccione achieved the title of Most Valuable Player. Unlike the other two teams, Frosh-Soph. did a fantastic job. With Dan Avila and Don Underwood as captains, the team ended their season 9 and 4. The entire team performed very well. Fred D'Andrea received the title of Most Valuable Frosh-Soph. Player. The team worked very hard, fulfilling their goal of making Montevista Tournament. First they played Warren, winning with a score of I0-0. Bosco Tech fell next to a Wildcat victory of 4-2. Rolling Hills was wiped out, 7- 2. Frosh-Soph. are the Montevista champs this year. Coach Massey expects this team to make for a winning Varsity in the years to come. Frosh-Soph. - Dan Avila, Tracy Banuelos, Chuck Borden, Pete Calderon, Larry Griffin, Tony Gonzales, David Lenowski, Don Underwood, Ross Weitschat, Randy Henderson, Roger Mora, Mike Morrow, John Poreider, Eric g Teresky. 'i3ff't3 ' , , y ri Q VOLLEYBALL IRESERVE TEAMJ - The girls reserve team as usual came in the top 2 in the league. The reserves had a 5-l record only losing one game in league play to Covina. The scores in that game were 16-14, I5-13, 16-14, so you can see that the entire league championship was won by only 2 points. Congratulations for a well earned 2nd place. VOLLEYBALL J.V. - The J.V. Volleyball did not do quite as well as the Varsity or Reserve Team. But the team is a young one with the maiority ofthe girls being sophomores and freshmen. Wilson's league standing was 7th place out of 9, iust ahead of La Puente and South Hills.
