Under the sponsorship of Mr. Jack Mitchell, we elected as our officers Annetta Sorrell, president, Lynda Ritz, vice president, Sharon More, secretary, Geraldine Braden, treasurer, Barbara Barnett and Inez Scholl, student council representative. As our motto we selected Build For Char- acter Not For Fame , our colors are blue and white, and we selected the white carnation as our flower. Soon we got acquainted and started to take a part :Ln school activities. Then came the biggest thrdll of a freshman, initiation. We certainly did feel silly in those crazy costumes, but having to be nice to those conceited seniors was the worst. Fall of 19514 here we're back at Glen Elder High School ready to begin our Sophomore year. Now there are only thirteen of us. Maxine Durham and Joan Woods dropped from our number. To lead us this year we selected Allen Fisher, president, Ralph Oliver, Jr., vice president, Inez Scholl, treasurer, Leroy Otte, secretary, Barbara Barnett and Rebecca Fisher, student council representatives. Our sponsors were Mr. Donald I-Ieilend and Mrs. Helen Sauerwein, Finally May rolled around, and our high school career was half OVSIR Fall of 1955 and we are upper clnsmnl This year there were fourteen names on our class roll. We lost one student Leroy Otte and gained two students Ray and Jay Huebner. Out patient and hardworking sponsors for that year were Miss Hazel Griffeth and Mr. Jack Mitchell. Our officers were as follows: Inez Scholl, president, Sharon More, vice president, Rav Huebner, secretary, Barbara Barnett, treasurer, Barbara Barnett and Jay Huebner, student council representatives. One of the important events this year was Stunt Night. We had a lot of fun at the ice cream social afterwards. Spring arrived and we began to work hard in preparing the banquet and prom for the Seniors and, on April 27, 1956, we honored the Senior in an Underwater Wonderlandn theme. Then another school year was over and we looked forward to our fourth and final year. As we gathered at the school in the fall of 1956, we found there were just eleven of us to finish this last year. Ray and Jay Huebner and Geraldine Braden were gone. We elected the following officers: Inez Scholl, president: Sharon More, vice president, Lynda Ritz, secretary, Annetta Sorrell, treasurer, Barbara Barnett and Junior Oliver, student council rep- resentatives. Our sponsors were Mr. Wallace Treaster and Mr. Wynne Ester. what a busy year this was for us! The first event was our Senior Play, Susan Steps Out' which was a real success. After the first semester was over we began to feel more and more like Seniors and you began to hear the words diploma, cap and gowns, and grad- uation on the lips of all the Seniors. At last one of the events we had been waiting for since we were Fresh- mencame. We left on our Senior Trip April 10th. What a wonderful time me had at the Lake of the Ozarks. May 3, 1957, the Juniors honored us with a Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. The theme was TV Show of Shows . From there on things seemed to fly, Baccalaureate, Claes Night, and finally Commencement. On May 22, 1957, eleven excited Seniors received their diplomas, signifying the end of their high school career, but just the commencement of their life. He tells us that Lynda Eltz-Beclesr is to take an extended trip in 2013 Cby the way this is the year of the Becker's Golden Wedding Anniversaryl. Here it is the year of 2008 and as the prophet prophesied Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Becker are touring the world, while their new home is being constructed. This home is being built in the Becker edition of Glen Elder which is about ten miles north of the former high school building. As we were walking down the streets of New York the lights over the Metropolitan Opera House seemed brightest of any. As we drew nearer we understood why. They were featuring Rowena Smith, who was giving a bari- tone concert. We flew to London where we were met by Ramona Baty who has just purchased the London Telephone Exchange. from London we went to Paris where we visited a very dear friend of mine Sharon More. She has become World Famous as a basketball coach. She has ten young fellows on her traveling squad. In Johannesburg, I picked up a paper and to my surprise was the headlines Nurse to Marry Local Doctor. Annetta Sorrell had finally decided to try something different and that would be to have only one patient and care for a home. Immediately we went to visit Annetta and she told me that Barbara Barnett decided to become a doctor and she was now one of the best surgeons in Johannesburg. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Marzolf and their twins, Jack and Jill, who live in Sydney, Australia, had just returned from a banquet in their honor. Jack had been elected president of the World Sheep Association. Mrs. Jack Marsolf is the former Becky Fisher. Beclq said she would have to close Becky's Music Studio now that she would be so busy traveling with her husband. They had recently purchased a new plane. We flew with them to attend the Rose Bowl game as Coach F1sher's team was playing. Not only was AID.en coach but his son. was playing on the team. Allen is now head coach at the Glen Elder University. While at the game, I thought I heard a familiar voice. Later I saw one of my former classmates, Junior Oliver and his wife. Junior said they came to the game as one of the triplets was football coach at the University of Washington and his team was playing in the Rose ml. Junior invited us to their home at Portland, Oregon. He said that Sat- urday evening they were having the grand opening of their twenty-sixth O1iver's School of Dancing. Being this close we must go to Alaska to visit Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bunch. We were happy to hear that Jim was now Mejor General and Lila was owner of the Li1a's Dress Shoppe. We arrived back to Glen Elder just :Ln time to attend the banquet given in honor of Inez Scholl, who was home on s visit. She has been the private secretary for the last three World Presidents.
