rnrmf mmd mmm WELCOME Faculty, Parents, and Friends of the Class of 1945: lt is with happy hearts that we, the Class of 1945, bid you welcome tonight. On this final night of our high school career we find ourselves greatly indebted to our teachers, parents, and the citizens of this community who have aided us in our search for an education. We have worked hard during these high school days that are drawing to a close, but now we realize how much more difficult work is ahead of us. It is not with regret that we speak of the work that has come our way, for we have made many friendships that will go through life with us. Our high school days have been full of many different activities besides stud4 ies which are an important factor in the lives of everyone. For twelve years we have looked forward to this night of graduation, and now tonight, as we reach that goal, our hearts seem heavy for this will mean the parting from our class members. Our best wishes and prayers are with the many boys who are now fighting and dying so that we may have a better world in which to live. We should be grateful to them because we have had a much better chance than many other young people in this world, and it is now up to us to aid them so that their efforts will not have been in vain. In this new world there is a task for each of us, and it is only by determination that we can reach that distant hope for which our high school teachers have been help- ing us to prepare.-June Morris. FAREWELL Classmates, Parents, Faculty, Board of Education, and Other Friends: Tonight marks the closing of another chapter in our book of life. We have now finished three chapters-the first, the years we spent in playing, the second, the eight years in grade school, and the third, these past four years we have spent in high school. Tonight we shall begin on the first page of chapter four, an entirely new and different chapter than any we have yet seen. But I believe that we have a firm and sturdy foundation, acquired right here in Glen Elder High School-a foundation built of knowledge, truth, and fairness. For this foundation we are sincerely grateful. We as seniors may not seem to appreciate the time and patience spent on us by our teachers and the love and understanding of our parents, but tonightl know we all realize how great and fine these things have been. All that we are or shall ever hope to be we owe to our parents and the teachers of Glen Elder High School. Tonight we are meeting formally as a class for the last time, tomorrow each of us shall go his own way in the world. So on behalf of the Class of '45 I bid you all a fondest farewell.-Joan Beyer.
