He needed only 11 seconds to break the national record 217 Baseball 218 IN MEMORIAM JOHN E. LAMBERSON 1923-1980 He was a moral and ethical man. So said one of John Red Lamber-son's life-long colleagues on the sudden passing of Mr. Lamberson in January of this school year. Jack Lamberson was a World War II veteran, an excellent physical education teacher, an active member of his church, and a devoted husband and father. Testimony to his popularity among his colleagues and students came at the Booster Club banquet this January, just two days before his death, when everyone rose in a spontaneous, prolonged, and heartfelt tribute to Mr. Lamberson and his contributions. Mr. Lamberson spent nearly three decades in this school system. He coached varsity baseball for ten years, but as a coach he is probably best remembered for his twenty-six years with varsity soccer, during which time he won several league championships and the 1968-Nassau County championship.
