IN MEMORIAM Mrs. Jack Howard met death on the highway December 15, 1947. Most of us, during our span of life, meet a great many fine men and women, but it is not often that we know such an outstanding individual as she was—a woman whose lofty ideals were inspiring to all who came in contact with her. She was a leader in everything that was good and fine and pure. She knew no wickedness, no selfishness, no animosity. We admired her for her simplicity, her keen judgment, her frankness, and her keen interest in the welfare of others. Truly, she lived for others. We will hold her in loving memory for her qualities of devotion as a wife, mother, teacher, and friend. 4

Her undying interest in the sports of Glen Alpine and her genuine and enthusiastic interest in all school activities are only a few of the qualities which make her so admirable. Through her interest and help our first annual has been possible. So with deep appreciation for the things she has done for us at Glen Alpine, we affectionately dedicate this annual.
