DISTRICT BASEBALL CHAMPIONS With a won-lost record of 11-1 the Glen Allen Panthers were crowned Baseball Champions of District Il. A victory by Culpeper over Fal- mouth High School made it possible for the Panthers to come home in front in the District race.’ Glen Allen’s only loss was to James Monroe in a nocturnal contest but they more than avenged this 5-4 defeat by crushing the Yellow Jackets 13-2 in a return contest. The pitching staff was paced by Jimmie Wright who won nine and lost none. John Gilbert won the other two victories. Others who saw action on the mound included Lewis Gilbert, Gerald Ayers and Donald Lloyd. The team usually took the field with Charles Faber behind the plate, Sherwood Frostick on first, Ted Page at second, Charles Brandmahl or Henry Failing at short, Wilson Tinsley at third, and in the outfield Coach Gasser depended on Jimmy Price, Edward Jackson, Howard Trice or Eddie Seay.
