T0 I TB00 UE Y0ll T0 S High school at last! Like strangers in a foreign land, we entered the hallowed portals of G.H.S. Like an American in Shanghai without a roadfmap, we wandered aimlessly into the wrong classrooms, down the wrong corridors, etc., exactly as our predecessors had done for years before us. As a freshman class, we were eager to show the upper classmen that we weren't really as stupid as they thought we were, and to prove this, we got organized and elected our officers with Miss Elliott as our capable class advisor. Our prestige rose considerably when we gave our first dance. A sock dance, which was a terrific success. How can we ever forget the numerous ladies' choices that night and all the seniors that came. QWe're still wondering why there were two extra pairs of shoes left over, and what ever became of some of ourslj Upon returning as sophomores, we were overjoyed to find ourselves no longer the youngest class in the school. Football games no longer seemed like Chinese puzzles to the girls. We enjoyed seeing our fellows on the gridiron as well as on the basketball court. In April, we had our hop with joan Duvall and Donald Farnelli as our King and ueen And before we knew it we were juniors The road was as bumpy, narrow, and winding as a Chinese rickshaw path, but at last there was a faint glimmer of hope in our hearts that someday, our fond hopes would be realized and we would actually get that wonderful thing called a diploma. We worked like coolies that year selling cards and writing paper. The one big event of the year was the junior-Senior Prom. Carol Weir and Dick Adams were crowned king and queen of the festivities. Ah! What a night for memories that was. How swiftly a year passes. Could it actually be true? Seniors at last! ln amazement we looked at each other. Strange, but we didn't seem to feel much different. But surely, we must have acted differently. Early in the year our minds were already looking forward to our Senior dance and then the Senior trip. To earn money for this, we sold Christmas cards and candy. Now, at the end of our life at G.l'l.S. it is with many fond recollections that we look back on our four years there. Although it is with pleasure that we look to the future, it is not without 1 touch of sorrow that we say farewell to this building this life and to these friends vxith whom we have been so happy fmffffe ii: 1 Q . 4 , , , I V -' 'I 1 n A o X 4 if ' I ..- vw- .1-.. -.. -H W Y H , ,7 Q1 ' ..- x . l fi . ii' --1:1-Y 4 -1, .
