CIM oem As we boarded our ship the very frst day, We were stunned with awe and glee, But the joyous times encountered there Will always a memory be. Our skipper, the best to be found in the land, And our officers young and gay, With their understanding guidance Helped us all in every way. The plays, the proms, the football games, All helped in shaping our voyage, And can never be forgotten By us senior girls and boys. The classes, few dull or boring, Were helpful, fun and gay, And the ringing of the three o'clock bell Tolled the end of a perfect KU day. But now it's time to cast anchor, And steadfast friends must severg Our school days are past and will ne'er return, But all will be shiprnates forever. ALICE S'rovER 13

676144 .js-halo:-g We entered G.H.S. like most other freshmen, green and awkward. We had our first class meeting and elected our officers-President, Clifford Kollmeierg Vice' President, Paul Munafog Secretary and Treasurer, Gladys Engelbrecht. That year we had a freshman assembly, using all the talent of the class. How proud we were when our assembly was chosen the best of all the classes! Our sophomore year we felt a little more confident, and what fun it was to watch the freshmen and wonder if we were ever like that. By this time class meetings were old stuff, and we thought we conducted ours with great success. This year we elected Robert Owens as our President, Paul Munafo, VicefPresidentg Anne Horcher, Secretary, and Louis Fry, Treasurer. This year we had a sophomore hop. Everyone, we especiaily, thought that this was a great success, with an orchestra and all the trimmings. When we finally became juniors fupper classmenj, we didn't even bother with the freshmen. Our officers this year were William Cox, Presidentg Robert Ormsby, VicefPresidentg Mildred Alacqua, Secretaryg and Anne Horcher, Treasurer. This year we worked like mad trying to get money for the prom, which we hoped would be the biggest and best ever had. We think it was! We finally reached our senior year, so different from the freshmen who had entered three years before. This year our officers were William Cox, President, 'Robert Ormsby, Vice' Presidentg Anna Yavorsky, Secretaryg and Anne Horcher, Treasurer. This year it was our privilege to plan Mr. Lutz's birthday party. Our class grew in number' by about ten this year, because so many veterans returned. --5979 We got our yearbook staff working soon after school started and we were also busy planning for Class Day, and our Senior Dance. Commencement has come at last and we, the Class of 1947, are about to leave G.H.S., remembering all the fun and joys we have had in the past. ORLEAN RYNHART AND JULIA GINGRICH 12
