Glass soon become familiar with the friendly nod from Miss Nelson as she meets us in the hall or as she walks into the classroom. It doesn’t take us long to learn that she expects from us a return of her bright greeting. As we look back over the past four years, we remember her thoroughness: daily drills in grammar, spelling, and sentence structure; but her wit and sense of humor make even our hardest lessons lots of fun. We are grateful for the richer understanding of fine literature, especially Shakespeare, she has given us. With deep appreciation we dedi- cate the 1950 Crest to Miss Helen Nelson, our teacher and friend.

OP RR IRS tg senses DRIEST O RR ET NES: Foreword Stories, themes, essays, reports — under whatever name compositions masquerade — are a weekly part of every student’s life at E. C. Glass. During our four years in high school we have written some seventy-five. Some have been fun to write; others have been a task; all have been written as an assignment from some English teacher and all have gone under her red pencil. Now we write our final composition, our annual — the complete story of one of the most memorable years of our lives. We hand it to you, hopefully, as we have handed so many to our teachers in the past. It requires no grading.
