These girls led the band in the football formations that were performed on the field between the halves of the games and whenever any marching was done. 11 The band practices first period every day and has group instruction on arpeggios, scales, and chords. They practice numbers for football and basketball games, for concerts and for other activities. Once a week each group icornets and horns, trombones and baritones, basses or clarinetsl have one hour of sectional practice where they get more individual instruction. ....43...

Horns: Joyce Nakken, Opal Biem, Don Malunat, and Bruce Ellis. Trombones: Ethel Olfert, and Max Morton. Baritones: Betty Billingsley, Richard Austin, Donna Grainger, and James Morton. Basses: Richard Mahugh and Marvel Bliven. Snare Drums: Betty Jean Bailey, Sharon Linn, 'Phyllis Scanson, and Sheila Brenna. Bass Drum: Gladys Johnson. Clarinets: Donna Jean Jensen, Joyce Rawe, Floradell McKay, Helen Teich- row, Cora Beth Grainger, Nadine Snyder, Loreen Hanson, Roberta Cotton, Carole Dressell, Darlene Wettestad, Carl Lawrence, Marie Pattison, Ardine Snyder, Adel Pidwerbecki, Carole Benson, Delphine Allison, and Richard Voldal. Saxophones: Wes Goheen, Guy Wagner, JoAnn Bruce, and Eleanor Rawe. Oboe: Eloise Hanson. Bassoon: Pat Eaton. Flutes: Guy Wagner, Patsy Pattison, and Norma Burrus. Tl Under the direction of Alonzo Hartwig, the band has been very active this year. To give you an idea of what activities the band participates in, here is our Band Calendar: Sept. 13--Played for the Pep Assembly and for the Williston game that night. Sept. 27-Led the High School up to the Big G and played while the Freshmen painted it also played that night around the bonfire in honor of Home- coming. Sept. 28-Played for the Missoula game and parade. Oct. 18-Played for the Pep Assembly and Miles City game. Nov. 27--Thanksgiving Band Concert. Dec, 6-Pep Assembly and Malta game. Jan. 17-Havre basketball game. Jan. 25--Lewistown basketball game. Jan. 31-Sidney basketball game. Feb. 13-Miles City basketball game. Feb. 15--Helena basketball game. Mar. 1-Glendive basketball game. Mar. 7-Band party held in the small gym. Mar. 14-Spring concert at Glasgow. Mar. 15-Spring concert at Fort Peck. Mar. 27-Played for the Physical Ed. Demonstration at Civic Center, April 18-Played for the spring plays. April 26-Music Festival in Glasgow. The band ended its '46-'47 activities by playing for the Commencement exer- cises on May 28. ..42...
