A., which was organized in I936 under the leadership of Miss Mildred Spaberg, started out with 30 active members. The club has maintained a steady and active mem- bership. Officers of the present year are Ruth Ness, pres- ident: LaVonne Hovland, secretary-treasurer, and Lois Crow, reporter. The aims of the club are to give girls more opportunities to engage in sports and to promote a spirit of cooperation among them. A club emblem, which is a red and white G, can be obtained only by participating in some regular sport during five seasons and making three teams. Miss Adena Schumacher acted as manager for the softball season this year. The two teams were captained by Esther Biddle and Ruth Ness and were refereed by Evelyn Bailey. During the basketball season the girls were coached by Miss Mildred Spaberg. Three teams were organized. The selected six of the two sophomore teams played the junior team, captained by Dorothy Turnacliff, for the championship title. This title has been held by the pres- ent junior team since l936. The class championship title was awarded to the sophomore team, captained by Ruth Ness. The dancing class, managed by Miss Hazel Hilton, has been particularly successful this year. Girls who qualified for performances were Bernetha Crowder, Eleanor Hov- land, Mary Lillian Gliver, LaVonne l-lovland and Esther Thornton. These girls have danced for many parties as well as many social clubs. Their costumes and perform- ances were admirable, The G. A. A. has sponsored many social activities just as they have in the sports program. The G. A. A. party, which has been held every year, is a very lively event. The picnic is enjoyed during an entire clay at a selected spot and the members play games, swim and eat. All- in-all the G. A. A. represents a very active and highly important club in Glasgow l-ligh School. STELLAR STARS OF G. A. A. Top picture, Sophomore squad, winners of class tournament. Back row: Veril Lambert. Pep Club of juniors and Seniors You're pep, you're pep! These words yelled lustily by the Girls' Pep Club helped to boost our football and basketball teams to fame this year. At every home game and several out-of-town games, too, one could see this bevy of good spirited girls and their sponsor planted in a conspicuous place in the grandstand. They were a strik- ing sight in their scarlet colored skirts and white sweaters with the red and white letters on the front. But these girls weren't satisfied with just being seen. Their three energetic cheer leadrs, Pussy Pease, Kate Puchalla and Mickey McMillan, led the club and the whole cheering sections in peppy yells. l-low could the boys help but play their best and better when those cheers were ringing in their ears? To get the money to buy the club letters and to enable the girls to go to out-of-town games, they sold basket- ball badges and sponsored a dance. The Pep Club was organized last November under the leadership of Miss Crest. The officers elected were: Dorothy Christensen, presidentg Kathryn Puchalla, vice president, and Lorraine Jensen, secretary-treasurer, The Pep Club is made up of girls in their junior and senior years at Glasgow l-ligh. FEDERAL BUILDING-POST OFFICE Glasgow's post office was moved from the old Cole- man building, which has so long been its home, into the new federal building location. Every Glasgow citizen is justly proud of the l5th and l6th of April. Keys for the lock boxes were given out the previous week. Mail was distributed for the first time on Sunday, April l6th. For this occasion Postmaster Sternhagen had a rubber stamp made for stamping all outgoing mail. The Scotty is proud to announce that this stamp was first designed by one of our own students, Leslie Jones. At this time dedication date has not been set. A Washington, D. C., post office official will be here for this occasion when it has been properly arranged, When Sarah Mae entered school, the carpenters were working at the building. After a few days she saw them handling a very large piece of lumber and, running to her teacher, she asked, Miss Crest, is that the school board they're putting on there now?
