Glasgow Becomes Vocational Center in New Montana Educational Movement GLASGOW ONE OF THREE CITIES NAMED FOR STATE TREND TOWARD TRADES ln addition to the big increase in dimensions made last fall on the Glasgow shop, this department will receive another addition in the form of considerable new equip- ment. The shop, which is probably one of Montana's busiest and most efficient, will run on a full day's sched- ule of laboratory Work next year. This is made possible through a bill recently passed in the Montana legislature which provides for the establishment of vocational cen- ters in the state. Besides Glasgow, the other cities se- lected at the April meeting of the State Board of Educa- tion were Helena and Miles City. The purpose is to offer courses adapted to young peo- ple who want specific training in vocations. Glasgow's vocational center will emphasize auto mechanics, welding and machine shop practice. However, there may also be courses offered in agriculture and home economics if there is a demand. These new vocational centers of the state will offer advantages to both high school graduates and post-grad- uates. This will be a chance for boys and girls from Glas- gow and all northeastern Montana to get a specialized training in trades, ordinarily given only in specialized vo- cational schools of other states. ln order to permit the administration to prepare for next September, it will be necessary for students from this vicinity to enroll for these courses by june l. Those interested should drop a postcard to R. l... lrle, superin- tendent. He wasn't there again today. l wish that man would go away - Helps to Graduation in Two Short Years Be late to every class. Never hand in a lesson. Never be too obedient: the teacher may think you like the subject. Always drape yourself around your chair, using the back as a head rest. This is for your enjoyment only. Never recite in class: it spoils your morale altogether. Never, above all, should you appear too courteous to- ward a teacher: this tends to make her believe you're trying for a grade on your charms. Besides, who in your class wants to get a grade that way? And last ,but not least, always cause your teacher much annoyanceg it causes the rest of the class to look up to you. Did you ever hear about the time Margaret for Elaine, wanted a refund and got her quarterback?
