KN mg' lil: PUBLISHED BY STUDENTS OF GLASGOW HIGH SCHOOL. VOLUME I MARCH, l937 NUMBER I WHY IT WAS NAMED SCOTTY Over a vast rolling plain the Great Northern Railroad found its way in l887. The owner of this railway, a Scotchman by the name of ,lim Hill, picked siding number 45 and christened it Glasgow, in true Scotch patriotism. Because Glasgow is a truly Scotch name, since the band wears lcilties, and the athletic teams play under the cognomen of Highlanders, we, the Press Club, thought we ought to follow the general scheme of things and thus our magazine is entitled, The Scotty. As everything else has a purpose, The Scotty also has a purpose, and, we feel, a very important one. This magazine is intended to help foster school spirit, and through the acquainting of students with various happenings throughout the school, also create a greater feeling of unity in the student body. The contents of this issue, the first, is devoted mainly to organizations within the school since one must know what is happening around him before he can become a part of it. The next issue of the Scotty, to appear this spring, will feature the graduating class of l937. Boys' athletics, Future Farmers, Future Craftsmen, and other group organizations will also be featured. Social activities, the junior-Senior banquet and prom, Commencement, and Vesper Services, and the curriculum activities and library will be reviewed, Some photographs from the '90's, as well as personal columns on the '37's are also to be special attractions for the next issue.
