THE TOREADORS' .. . . uumfwwr The first all High School operetta presented since 1927 thrilled local audiences on last March 8. This operetta, The Toreadorsj' was directed by Mr. Leonard Brunette, the vocal director of the school. A Spanish theme was carried out with colorful costumes and gay pageantry. The principal characters were: LaVere Tippetts as Senor Dictorio, a wealthy hacienda owner and father of Benita and Juanita, lovely twin daughters, played by Ardelle Boreson and Albana Barnette. The two lovers of Benita and Juanita, Juan and Pablo, are played by Bernard Boreson and Robert Mill. Senor Swateo and Senor Whackeo, the two Toreadores, are played by Gordon Vallandigham and Harry Hall. The girl friends of Benita and Juanita. Delores and Marie, were played by Patricia Erickson and Mary Ann Clowes. A chorus made up of more than 80 members of the Junior and Senior High School sang several Spanish numbers. BEAT IT, GIRLS! SOLID CONCENTRATION The sections straight back from Mr. Lee's box, It includes part of the flute section, the oboe, horns, saxes and bass homs. There have been three new bass players started in the band this year. A , 2- ' E . The new drum section. All but one of the drummers are new this year in the band. A11 told, there are nine drummers. They were put in a few months ago and since then they have shown vast improvement. -23-
