Bears' Tale Representative in Who's Who, Most Valuable Edit0r'rs Note 'A' The Bears' Tale Staff of 1942 has attempted to record in words and pictures a complete portrayal of the school life of the students in the Gladewater lun- ior-Senior High School. A The original plan was to build the book around the theme of our contribution to the defense of Democracy. With the events of December 7, 1941, and the declaraf tion of war on the following day it was deemed wise to take a more aggressive point of view. In spitef of the. many rapid changes we have attempted to keep abreast of those affecting our school system. fb Throughout their history Americans have exemplified a profound love for freedom. Early in the seventeenth century the first colonists left their native lands to search for a place where they might live without op- pression. The next century saw their descendants engaged in the American Revolution in order that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness might be preserved. Now a great world war is being waged to insure the four freedoms listed by President Roosel velt: freedom of speech and religion, freedom from want and fear. We as Americans realize that our way of living has evolved from this love and desire for freedom. There- fore, to the American Way Of Life we dedicate the 1942 edition of Bears' Tale. , .
