School Activities An idle mind is the devil's workshop. These are the words that were forcefully impressed on the minds of the students when lirst coming to school. As a result of much observation we believed that to be true. We found a great amount of work to do, and thought we w'ere kept busy: but this year we have learned to know the real delight of working for liull. As we returned to school we found much work awaiting us, due to an in- c1'ease in the scope of our activities and a lesser number of students. Xie then beg'an to think we had too much to do. How human we are! But. praise liod! we see that much work means more practice, and practice makes perfect. Some of the activities enjoyed by the students here in tl. T, ll. l. are: .Xlms House, llospital, -lail. Radio, Street. and Mission XYork. liach Sunday morning' it is the privilege of a large group of students tu go to the Alms llouse, The boys and girls alternate every other week. There they go! A group of fifteen or twenty students singing' and playing' as the truck leaves from the front of the Institute. .Xfter winding' their way across the city they find themselves in front of a beautiful. spacious building. llere for more than an hour they p1'esent the gospel message in song, then entering' the chapel the XYord of God is brought forth to a large munber of hungry souls. Other groups find pleasure in visiting' the sick, singing. playing, and telling' of Christ to those in the inlirmary. This work is under the super- vision of Sister Cooper. Three Sundays a month a small group of students can be seen leaving' for the jail. There they enjoy a very blessed time with Sister Tennant, singing' and telling the story of 'lesus' love to a people who have, through the result of sin, fallen into the clutches of the law. It inspires us on as quite often we see hands raised, asking' for prayer. Hften. after their release. they come to church. and here they find -lesus real to their hea1'ts. Perhaps the most interesting' work uf all is that uf the radio. liach dav for one hour we send out the glad message uf comfort and cheer to people in all walks of life. More about this work will be found in another section of the book. ,Xnother work that has been found interesting, especially to the boys, is that of Rescue Missions. The boys, five times a week, and the girls twice a week have the blessed privilege of telling about the salvation of Christ to men who think there is no hope for them. lt is truly wonderful to see the number of men who find hlesus precious to their souls. liach Tuesday night, at the same time. three g'roups of boys hold meetings in various parts of the city. Our street 1neeting's figure largely in our service for the Master. Five times a week, and twice on Sunday. we stand on the stre t torner tullini about what God has done for us. and will do for others. lflere is where we get our most practical and best experience preaching' the Gospel. Rest of all. we are not only getting experience, but a1'e telling to lost humanity the way of salvation and light. XYe rejoice when we see someone accept -lesus rig'ht on the street corner, or follow us to the Temple and there get saved. Right in Glad Tidings Temple is where many knees have knocked together as the different students stood before a la1'g'e audience, directing' song' service, leading in prayer or testimony. o1' preaching. Praise find for the shaky knees! It was here on Glad Tidings platform that we found how to control ourselves and overcome and cor1'ect our difliculties as well as our weaknesses, If it were not for the prayer life here in G. T. B. I. it would be impossible for us to work for the Master and see the 1'esults we do. It is God who in- creases our streng'th, and imparts to us the knowledge and anointing we need to carry on His work. After two years we are thoroughly convinced it is better to wear out for God, than to rust out for the devil. T191
