in memoricam MISS FRANCES M. ANDERSON MISS ANNA H. BOYD Death has laid a heavy and most unexpected hand on Girls Vocational this year. Miss Boyd, who taught Sewing since the school was established, died October 12, 1945. She was one of the most conscientious teachers among us, devoted to in- structing her girls in the handiwork she herself knew so well. She was always willing and anxious to explain the work her classes were engaged in and her door was open to teachers and pupils alike. . Miss Andekson, who died January 21, 1946 came to Girls Vocational in September, 1937. She was an excellent teacher and time and again the students she had had in English I and II could rise proudly in upper classes to say nOf course I know that, Miss Anderson taught it.n For'what she taught was not soon forgotten. All of us, faculty and students, agree that in the halls, in Room 223, in the library, we miss the kindly smile Miss Anderson had for everyone. 9

o retirements Within the past year, the English Department has lost two of its most able members and the school, two of its vet- eran teachers. Both Miss Florence Hopkins, who retired in June 1945, and Mrs. Margaret Frank, who left in January of this year, had taught at Girls Vocational from its earliest days, and countless girls will long remember their excellent instruction and kindly influence. To both we say HMay you enjoy to the utmost the well- earned idle years ahead.H 10
