The Present ls Great with the Future Atter tour happy and successful years at Poly, the graduating seniors of '54 were ready tor college, business, or matrimony. During the last year, the seniors did them- selves proud by earning many honors in va- rious lields. Artistic talent was proved when Arlene Anderson, Katherine Kiggins and Gretf chen Boyle each received a gold key award for their original paintings at the annual Scholastic Art Award contest. lean Waller placed third tor her display at the Science Exposition. Libby Linkous was honored by being elected DAB. girl by her classmates and teachers. Beverly Ogden won a radio tor her tive-minute radio script l Speak tor Democracy in the Voice ot Democracy speech contest. ln the beauty department, Donna Carlson was crowned Miss Merry Christmas during the yuletide season. Marilyn Mai was chosen Miss Fuchsia ot l954 at the annual flower show with her attending senior princesses, Lor- etta Betham, Carol Yohn, Barbara Lulay, and Sharlene Hidalgo. Senior meetings became trequent as the year .progressed and activities ol the graduating class were planned. These meetings were held in the mornings m the auditorium during registration period.
