The iuchsia thrives in the climate of western Oregon. We can be glad, since it is our school flower, to help in interesting and encourag- ing the students and adults in our city to plant more tuchsias and in greater variety to add to the beauty oi our city and its homes. Portland can become a City ot Flowers as well as the City of Roses. Girls and women, upon whom rests a great part ot the responsibility for making attractive homes and gardens, can have a prominent place in this civic activity, We are appreciative of the work ot our school garden club for all its flower activities, ot our science students who are starting to landscape and beautily a special area ot our school grounds, of our Polymaid stall for honoring our school flower in its 1951 yearbook. We have been thrice blessed at Girls Poly in l95l. Our PSTA has been outstanding. The Association sponsored its annual Harvest din- ner, inaugurated Fun Night, gave the annual scholarship, and worked successfully in many other ways for our school. Our Alumnae group has been active. ln addition to adding many fine books to the Anna E. Arnold Memorial Library, they published a Girls Poly cookbook, dedicated to Miss Bleeg. Our Student Body has cooperated and worked for the good ot all. Each class has contributed to its abilities to the weltare of the school. With the cooperation of these three groups, we have been able to attain the highest goals, RUTH E.
