Le CM 3'- Q ,L!Vv, Under the direction of its most able leader, Mrs. Marks, the Girls Latin School Clee Club has proven the old saying that music hath charmsf' During the year the Glee Club has lent an intangible beauty to a great many school functions. Among their best performances were the same sweet old Christmas carols sung in a way that nearly brought tears to the eyes of even the men present. The music composed by Franz Liszt and sung by the Glee Club provided a perfect background for the operetta, Chonita. Orchids must be given to those excellent actress who participated, Margaret Ann Caldwell, Mary Kathryn Marti- net, Mary Robertson, and Muriel Wagner. Also rating gold stars for services rendered are Murial Wagner, president, Sue Watts, secretary, Betsy Hall and Barbara Cladding, librarians. In the spring this well-organized body heralded the May Queen into her reign, and as a concluding note bade the seniors a sad but beautiful farewell at Commencement. 37

Monthly throughout this year, as last, appeared the News-Letter, full of inter- esting news and articles, providing good reading for the students and serving as a tie between the school and its graduates and loyal friends. This publication. under the supervision of Miss Smalley, was efficiently edited by Anne Harman succeeded by Betty Ann Ness. assisted by ,lane Eleanor Louis, with Betty Ann Reeder as feature editor. The appropriately seasonal covers displayed the talents of Billie Ballard and Peggy Grant. The staff room, acquired late last year. has been greatly improved in working facilities. Even the mimeograph machine has been performing more smoothly this year. All year long the News-Letter has kept us posted on all news, past, present, and future, of the school, its alumnae, and its P.T..-X. Everyone is grateful to all those girls who gave so much of their time and effort to the success of the school paper.
