Everything we had become accustomed to was transplanted to an unfamiliar building, and we were wary of it. But God fulfills Himself in many ways, and after a short while we came to know and cherish our new building. And the old spirit returned. These lines of Tennyson's could be about you also. Your graduation from high school and entrance into a world of adults, as adults, is perhaps the greatest change that has ever happened to your life. Oh, there will probably be many others, - but this is the begin- ning, and begin greatly! The Idylls of the King contains much more that lends itself perfectly to a history of our life at Girls' High. I ENGLISH CLUB u jair worcb were deaf H Adviser: Miss Cashman The English Club is organized primarily for the writing of the extensive script of the Class Day Exercises and the production of a dramatic presentation which is the reflection of the life of the Senior Class during its four years at Girls' High School. This requires talent in composing parodies for the musical parts, col- lecting material for the history, prophecy, and will of the class, putting such material into dramatic form, and finally acting in it. In addition to this major project, the Club enjoys one review of a current book or play presented each meeting by one of the members. THE LIBRARY SERVICE CLUB -fdncl mucA Mei, Jay, Mme A0044 ofouran Adviser: M iss Hennig The Library Service Club has a three-fold purpose for its existence. The first is to render real service to the school. The second is to acquaint its members with its many treasures, - books, pamphlets, pictures, and records. The third is, through instruction and practical work, to open up new opportunities for further professional training in Iibrarianship. Some members study at Simmons and become professional librarians, others work in the Boston Public Library and advance through courses offered there. Members of the club work in the library at least one period each week, taking the attendance, shelving books, checking magazines, assisting in arranging bulletin board and show case displays, and doing very important desk routine. The Reading Circle, an integral part of the club, emphasizes the joy in reading through the reading and then the sharing of modern books and authors which are discussed at club meetings. The club, however, isn't all workg lor there are fun meetings, book breakfasts, trips, a dinner meeting with a guest speaker, and some years the planning of an assembly program. H Adviser: Miss Turnbull The Business Girls' Club has existed successfully for six years. lt is open to girls taking the Commercial Course, who are passing in all their subjects. Our program is varied, ranging from talks given by representatives of the personnel departments of Insurance Companies, Banks, and Public Utility Companies, to films on techniques and courtesies in an office, to fashion shows on what the up-to-date business girl should wear. Our main goal is to prepare girls, in the proper fashion, to secure a good position in the business world after graduation. Speakers from various fields of work prepare us for the future by explaining to us what an em- ployer looks for and expects of us. The Business Girls' Club has succeeded in making a success of the many girls who have ventured into the business world, and I know it will A- CIGDPI TY'-:IGS-: P. TOSCGUO, Presq I. Gormley continue to do so in the future. Sec., A. Capprini, V. Pres. THE SPANISH CLUB UA!! wiale worfal of ourd. H Adviser: Miss Rogers The main purpose of the Spanish Club is to make the girls realize how much diversion they can obtain from knowing a foreign language, especially Spanish. Our members plan to put on numerous plays as we have in previous years. Among these will be Los Reyes Magos, La Tormenta, and Los Hijos Obedientesf' Another of the aims of the club is to entice the girls to read on their own more plays which are written in Spanish. With all this in mind, we know that we will have a very enjoyable as well as educational year. Seated: M. Adams, R. Seaver, Pres., E. Shanks, I. Beckett Standing: D. Harding, I. Neves, M. Lee, I.
