More participants and better trained athletes made all competition keen. The basketball tournament was the snappiest ever. The baseball league was large and the track meet was fea- tured by the best of sportsmanship. A great deal of interest was also shown in the swimming classes. Lawrence Manion. athletic in- structor, deserves much credit for the progress the girls have made in physic- al education. LAWRENCE MANION THE PRESI-IMAN GYM CLASS Physical education became a part of the Freshman course this year. Classes were held at the K. of C. gymnasium twice a week under the direction of Lawrence Manion. The work proved interesting and profitable to the girls. Kathryn Duggan, a member of class '3l, was elected school cheeraleader for '30 and '3l. Pit all of the athletic events of the year she was ready with her well-organized section to root for the Maroon and X AX D White. l-ler pep and enthusiasm entitled her to a white sweater with a maroon megaphone, which was presented by the B. C. Monogram Club. Kay was one of the best yell Q. .., leaders ever chosen to represent Cen- ,rv . .fi- elflllli 1 . - iw' I 'NX V +'+ - tral. She deserves high praise for the excellent showing she made at all games. KATHRYN DUGGAN CLASS CHEER LEADERS Two girls were elected from each class to lead the cheering sections during the interelass tournament. Each girl endeavored to make her section the peppiest at the games, and to cheer her team on to victory. Defeat did not dampen the spirit of any of the girls and loyalty and good sportsmanship prevailed through- out the tourney, The '31 group of yell leaders will be remembered as one of the best elected.
