Mothers Day Poetry Contest Each year in May the Centralite Staff conducts a Mothers Day poetry contest in the school . The students put their best efforts into the work. and many excellent poems are submitted. In the 1930 contest Mother by Helen Lavelle and To a Departed Mother by Marie Riley were the Winners. XYell. maybe it's true, and I started to run In hope of a view of the class of '31, Ali, I shouted. it's true. it's true, -Xs familiar figures loomed into view. I saw Esther and Collette down on the farm Displaying their well-known musical charm. Lucille and LaVerne own a beauty shop. And K. Duggan there wields a heavy mop. Corr and Carty have crashed the movies. King and McFadden are famous beauties. The Roach, Murray, and Kendrigan trio Are on the stage dancing to O Solo Mio. As a chef gl. McKeown makes excellent gravy. To help Yonee feed the hungry nary. Marie McMillan has put aside all fun, XYith M. Mulholland a hospital she'll run. Rafferty and M. Reilly, while rowing on a lake, Tipped the boat and met their fate. Caddy Johnson, now dances in a cabaret, XYhile brilliant Norma feeds horses hay. Kate Connolly, well known as a teacher stern, Makes Nora Brouillette's children learn. Rosie Roe and Dote. two hohoes yet. Lost all their money on a horse race bet. Kathleen and Pony, two good dieticians, Have discovered a way to reduce musicians. Irene Harrington runs a home for old maids. And there the fair Catherine ffVDonnell stays. Peg Monahan. now a millionaires wife. Says she's leading a wonderful life. Mary Lee. a missioner far, far away. Is converting her thousands day by day. And. and Monica. in Lane's .lazz Band lYhile Liz and Tan dance the hours away. Florence Kelly is a great tennis champ, .-Xnd H. Meade is the world's most famous vamp. play, Lois Sullivan, who dances in a show, Keeps press agent, McGowan. on the go. XYith the circus that left town one day. M. Kelly and M. Shea rode ffl-l'. far away. Toots Phillips, the best ad getter of all ages, On McGonigle's paper now earns her wages. Helen Lavelle, a spinster. hung a sign On her door. Singing lessons any time.
