He is both a musical artist and skillful teacher, and he has succeeded in imparting some of his artistry to the orchestra. His musicians were in constant de- mand during the year for public as well as private performances, and their play- ing always called forth hearty commen- dation and reflected great credit on the A l director. F. O. JACKSON ESSAY WRITERS ln the chemistry contest sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Catherine Connolly was awarded second place in the state. The title of her essay was Chemistry and Public Sanitation. Her paper was also entered in the national contest. Margaret Corbitt, a freshman. won first place in the state in the Current Events division of the National High School Awards sponsored by twelve leading magazines.
