Other mem- bers are M. Mueller, A. Cassidy, C. Hoare. M. Moran, C, Shepperd. and M. Ryan. The care and arrangement of lab equipment and the preparation of a lab guide were some of the services of this group. CHAMPION AD TEAM These three girls were the first to secure the allotted amount of ad- vertising for the Annual in the ad campaign conducted by the staff. Second row: Kenny, Davis, Mulholland, Dennehy. Central's library ranks among the best, meeting as it does, the state requirements for high school libraries. This year new sets of scientific volumes, over a hundred books of fiction, and several reference works were purchased. Many fine books have been donated by the principal and other friends of the school. QUILL AND SCROLL SOCIETY Early in April fourteen members of the Centralite staff were ini- tiated into Quill and Scroll, honorary journalistic society. The students qualified for this honor by excellent work in writing and business man- agement. He is both a musical artist and skillful teacher, and he has succeeded in imparting some of his artistry to the orchestra. His musicians were in constant de- mand during the year for public as well as private performances, and their play- ing always called forth hearty commen- dation and reflected great credit on the A l director. F. O. JACKSON ESSAY WRITERS ln the chemistry contest sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Catherine Connolly was awarded second place in the state. The title of her essay was Chemistry and Public Sanitation. Her paper was also entered in the national contest. Margaret Corbitt, a freshman. won first place in the state in the Current Events division of the National High School Awards sponsored by twelve leading magazines.
