Third Row: Manning, Corbitt, Lavelle, Lee, Connolly, Reilly. In preparation for the National Awards, the school sponsored a preliminary creative writing contest. The winning papers were entered in nine of the seventeen divisions of the national contest. These included essays, features, short stories, book reviews, art, poetry, editorials. cur- rent news, and science articles. MAGAZINE REVIEW WINNERS During the year magazine reviews were forwarded each week to the World News to be judged with articles submitted from the whole country. Central received nation-wide recognition when several girls of the senior class had their articles published. A cash award was given to each winner.
